Journey To Thatch Hill River Park, St Ann

I love a perfect river day but the journey to Thatch Hill River Park was not something I anticipated or expected. I have been to Blue Hole before but I had no idea there were other attractions such as Island Gully Falls and Thatch Hill River Park around the corner. By around the corner, I mean at least 30-40 minutes. It is reservation only and you have to book online. It is $1,000 JMD for persons 13 years and older, $500 JMD for 4-12 years old and free for children 3 years old and younger.

If you have ever been to Blue Hole, you have an idea of the directions but in case you have not, I will try my best to tell you where to go. Let’s hope the Jamaican in me doesn’t show up too much (go up straight and turn ’til you see Maas John blue gate and go round the corner until you reach a white stone on the right, then turn left – if you know, you know.)

Coming from Kingston, you exit the toll and head into the town of Ocho Rios. Not directly in the town but on the by-pass where you will pass Turtle River Park and Eight Rivers Town Centre. You will continue straight on the road for about 5-6 minutes before you get to the spotlight with the Texaco Gas Station on the right. At the stoplight, you will make a right turn to go on White River road (think that is what it’s called) and there is only one way to get to Thatch Hill from that direction.

After the right turn, you will pass a fruits man on the left and continue on the road. You will go around a corner where you will see a slight left turn but you should keep right on the road. It is also important to note that you can use Google Maps to find this hidden gem. All you need to do is put the location in your GPS when you get in the town of Ocho Rios and not on the toll. If you do so on the toll, it will lead you elsewhere.

You will pass the community of Exchange and Bonham Spring don’t be scared if you feel like you will get lost. You will continue straight until you get to an intersection with an orange and yellow two-story house on the right. You will make a right turn down the hill and continue on the road until you get to the JPS power plant on the right. Bottom side the plant is Thatch Hill Road where you will make a right turn. From the entrance of that road to the property is about 30-40 minutes because the road is really bad. On that road, you will pass Nature Blue, Blue Hole and Island Gully Falls. The journey is only long because of the condition of the road so brace yourself for all the grass you will see and the shakes you will get from potholes.

If you are interested in seeing what the property looks like, please watch the video below. There is information in it that you need to know that they do not share with you.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you find this information useful.

God bless.
